Outreach Unit

Outreach Unit

The Outreach Unit is dedicated to spreading the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to those who have not yet been reached. It also aims to build meaningful relationships with communities through development projects that serve as bridges for sharing the gospel. The unit focuses on the following key activities:

  1. Film Ministry

The Outreach Unit leverages film as an effective tool to communicate the message of Jesus Christ, instill good morals, and promote peace from a Christian perspective. This ministry is conducted in various settings, such as large halls or outdoor spaces, typically in the evening when audiences are most available. Key aspects include:

  • Target Audience: Primarily rural communities.
  • Cultural Relevance: Films are presented in local dialects to enhance understanding and engagement.
  • Support for Missionaries: Providing EMS missionaries with film equipment and training to reach their communities using this medium.
  • Impact: The method diverges from conventional preaching, offering a fresh approach to spreading the gospel.
  1. Outreach to other target groups

The Outreach Unit specifically engages with these groups, predominantly in northern regions of the country. This outreach includes:

  • Discipleship and Training Centers: Facilities where new converts receive foundational Christian teachings.
  • Practical Support: Offering vaccination services for cattle to build relationships.
  • Skill Development: Providing training in various skills to empower individuals economically and socially.
  1. Bible and Study Materials

Access to biblical resources is critical for spiritual growth and outreach. The unit provides:

  • Materials Distributed: Bibles, tracts, and audio devices.
  • Language Focus: Resources are primarily available in English, Hausa, and Fulfulde (the Fulani language) to meet the needs of diverse communities.
  • Purpose: These tools support evangelism, discipleship, and personal spiritual development.
  1. Discipleship

Discipleship is at the heart of the Outreach Unit’s mission, ensuring new believers grow in their faith and resilience. This is achieved by:

  • Partnership with Discipleship Centers: Collaborating with 10 centers in Plateau and 1 in Bauchi.
  • Comprehensive Training: Converts receive teachings on:
    • Spiritual Principles and Christian Values
    • Biblical Knowledge
    • Life and Technical Skills
    • Sustainability Practices
  • Outcome: Converts are equipped to face trials, overcome persecution, and maintain their faith while being self-reliant.
  1. Community Development Projects

Community development serves as a bridge for building relationships and facilitating the gospel. Initiatives include:

  • Water Provision: Digging wells and boreholes in water-scarce areas.
  • Crisis Relief: Delivering relief materials to communities affected by crises.
  • Infrastructure Development: Constructing or renovating churches and clinics to support local needs.
  1. Missionary Partnership and Support

The unit supports missionaries in their evangelistic and church-planting efforts by:

  • Material Provision: Supplying essential resources for fieldwork.
  • Training Support: Assisting missionaries with training for effective outreach.

The Outreach Unit employs a holistic approach, blending spiritual and practical interventions to reach the unreached, disciple new believers, and foster sustainable community relationships. Each activity is rooted in the desire to glorify Jesus Christ and empower individuals to live a faith-filled, self-sustaining life.

Harvest Training Center (HTC) envisions to equip and send a large, trained workforce to transform least reached communities/individuals.

We have class hours where we teach courses like evangelism and discipleship, leadership and character formation, health education, Christian doctrine, marriage and Christian home, church planting, agriculture, sports, and many more. We have three sessions of three months each. At each of the session’s classes, skills training runs concurrently.
